Shanghai Institute of Special Equipment Inspection & Technical Research(SISEI) is a professional technical organ to pursue safety inspection of special equipment, which is bel-onging to SBTS(Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision). It is a combination of the formal Shanghai Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspection Institute and formal Shanghai Institute of Special Equipment & Technical Research, which is established in Mar-ch 19 th , 2004. At present, the organ has seventy senior engineers and one hundred and forty-five engineers that include one hundred and ten senior and junior engineers for special instrument inspection, and various specialized personnel covering 87% of the total staff.

        The organ is responsible for the test of special equipment such as boiler, pressure vessel (including cylinder), pressure piping, elevator, crane, ropeway and recreational facility . The licensed test items is as following:

        Test for in-service steam boiler with a rated steam pressure equal or lower than 2.45Mpa and in-service water boiler with a rated steam supply equal or higher than 0.06MW;

        Test for in-service steam boiler with a rated steam pressure higher than 2.45Mpa;

        Test for in-service pressure vessels of the first two types;

        Test for in-service pressure vessels of the third type;

        Test for in-service tank lorry of the automobile;

        Test for the in-service tanker of railway;

        Quality inspection and supervision for security and installation of the steam boiler with a rated steam pressure equal or lower than 2.45Mpa and the water boiler with a rated heat supply equal or higher than 0.06MW;

        Inspection and supervision for quality and security of products produced by C.D and E grade boiler manufactory;

        Inspection and supervision for quality and security of products produced by A and B graded boiler manufactory;

        Inspection and supervision for quality and security of products (including on –site installation) produced by the first two types pressure vessels manufactory;

        Inspection and supervision for quality and security of products (including on-site installation) produced by the third type pressure vessel manufactory;

        Inspection and supervision for quality and security of products produced by cylinder manufactory;

        Inspection and supervision for security and function of exported & imported boiler pressure vessels;

        Installation supervision and in-service test for pressure piping;

        Test for in-service elevators;

        Test for in-service hauling-up device;

        Test for motor vehicle in the institute;

        Test for in-service recreational facilities (B and C grad only);

        Test for elevator acceptance;

        Test for hauling-up device acceptance;

        Test for recreational facilities acceptance (B and C grade only).

        Moreover, Shanghai Institute of Special Equipment Inspection & Technical Research was authorized the qualification of test for the boiler pressure vessels of a third party by the Singapore and Malaysia government. And also the institute is active in cooperation with prestigious international bodies and adopting the advanced managing methods and service idea to serve the customers home and abroad wholeheartedly.
